Scottish synth-pop trio CHVRCHES have received a slick, future-facing rework from Hyperdub producer Ikonika for their latest single Lies, a ditty about "making a true believer" out of someone by making them get on their knees, from what we can gather from the lyrics. In its Ikonikised form, though, the track bounces and zings with 80s power-synths, arpeggiated melody lines and hyperactive percussion.
In her review of Ikonika's July album 'Aerotropolis' for Dummy, Steph Kretowicz talked of its "soaring forward motion" and its sense of being "too crisp to be healthy", the music's aesthetic borrowing from airport culture with its pristine glow, propulsive effiency and weird sense of detachment – all of which comes through in this blisteringly fun remix. Stream it exclusively on Dummy.
Virgin/Goodbye Records will release Lies on the 2nd December 2013.
