Premiere: Archangel - Steal The Groom (feat. Peter Gordon & Caro)

Bruno Pronsato teams up with legendary NYC underground saxophonist.

Archangel is the latest project from the multi-talented Steven Ford. Ford's name perhaps won't ring any bells when read like that, but he's an important figure in the US/German club music nexus as a producer and DJ (under names like Bruno Pronsato and Bobby Karate), in groups (like NDF, with Sergio Giorgini of Benoit & Sergio, and Public Lover), and as founder of the very good (seemingly defunct) record label Thesongsays.

It's his work with NDF that new song Steal The Groom most closely recalls, a long, minimal groove with hushed, semi-spoken vocals. It's also got a freewheeling sax running over the top courtesy of Peter Gordon, a legendary saxophonist from New York's avant-garde underground who has collaborated with many, many people in his time (from Laurie Anderson to Chaka Khan to David Cunningham's ambient obscuro 'Water') but is best known for his work with Arthur Russell, his recent collaborations with Factory Floor, and for fronting the Love of Life Orchestra, whose music was collected for a DFA compilation in 2010. Fleshing out this collab-heavy track is Caro, co-founder of Orac Records.

Steal The Groom appears on Archangel's new album, 'The Bedroom Slant', which is out next month.

foom. release 'The Bedroom Slant' on June 2nd 2014 (pre-order).
