Premiere: Angel 1 - 'Purple Haze' EP
Oakland cassette label Constellation Tatsu have an impressive back catalogue despite being established only a year ago. Home to artists such as Cankun, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Food Pyramid, Looks Realistic, Fluorescent Heights (whose track was featured in our first staff mix this year), it’s run by Steven Ramsey, bubbling under the radar and putting out strains of experimental, abstract and ambient records. Their latest release comes from Angel 1, the new recording project of anonymous producer Boy Snacks, who has previously released a full-length album on LA-via-NYC label Beer On The Rug.
Here, Dummy are glad to be premiering Angel 1’s epic double-sided ‘Purple Haze’; an airbrushed, versatile outsider dance record so charming and sickly sweet it radiates a truly summery feeling from within. Riding on top of the A-side is a groove with the most luxurious and infectious array of sounds – from the space-age opening to the lounge-y and glossy house-leaning section, journeying through the jazz-oriented chapter and finally climaxing onto the experimental-noise/ rave B-side. We love it, and suggest you check it below:
