Patti Smith is adapting her memoir 'Just Kids' into a screenplay

Living embodiment of downtown New York Smith is collaborating with Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan on the adaptation of the tale of her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe.

In exciting news, Patti Smith has confirmed that she is adapting her already-classic memoir Just Kids into a screenplay.

John Logan, Oscar-nominated writer, is helping Smith to pen her tale – which won the 2010 National Book Award for Non-Fiction – suitably for the big screen.

The film, which will tell the tumultuous story of Smith’s relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, is being written on spec, with no distribution yet agreed for it. This means we can’t speculate on when the completed movie will eventually arrive – but it’s good to know it’s in the works.
