The Weeknd are one of the year’s most consistently fascinating act, a dark Dorian Grey portrait to rap’s frat boy excess, who has no small success off the back of their / his mixtapes. Their crew (other members / affiliates include Drake) is called XO, and have uploaded a new video to their YouTube account, which sees Omari Shakir follow his underrated jam Like A Book. It’s a silken beat that belongs to that school of vaguely Orientalist, pan-Asian hip hop so well tapped by Timbaland on his hit Naughty Eye, but showcases a more driving, energetic vocal performance.
