Old Apparatus - JPES

The East London collective re-emerge from the shadows with more brooding ambience.

For those of you (me included) who weren't all that clued up on what they're about, the release of Old Apparatus' 'Compendium' this year – compiled from their previously released EPs, offered welcome nods to Keysound's LHF clan, with its hints of early DMZ dread, and dark ambient flashes putting it in line with Blackest Ever Black. The rest of their 2013 hasn't been entirely quiet (they did make a Dummy Mix), but members have also moved onto fruitful side projects. So hearing JPES is welcome indeed: a brooding onslaught that eventually softens, lifted off the 'Epirtsder' EP – a new release expected be given out to supporters and fans next week.
