'Chasing Yesterday', the second album by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, opens with Riverman, an expansive song which features – amongst other things – a wandering saxophone solo.
The sax is a pretty wonderful element that Erol Alkan and Richard Norris evidently had a lot of fun with on their new rework of the song, produced under their psychedelic alias, Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve. In Alkan and Norris's arrangement, the song opens with the sax and slowly unfolds to reveal something deep and cinematic.
It's not the first time that BTWS have tackled Noel's music: they also re-animated the the album's closing track, Ballad of the Mighty I, earlier in the year.
Sour Mash Records released 'Chasing Yesterday' on February 27th 2015 (buy), and will release Riverman (Single) on May 11th 2015.
