No Age - C'mon Stimmung

Really good Californian noise band back with a bang.

No Age are back! They’ve announced a new album ‘An Object’ – the first since 2010’s ‘Everything in Between’ – for August 19th and have been busy recalibrating their sound, doing things like recording loose change rattling in amps and using contact mics for percussion instead of traditional drum sets.

C’mon Stimmung is the first taste of their new material and points to the change. Stimmung is an interesting German word that Stockhausen used as the title of vocal composition and means both the tuning of a sound or mood to others around it and an inward harmonizing with the soul. This track is very much a continuation of No Age’s ramshackle style but also shows new developments: Dean’s cathartic vocals are delivered in knotted yelp rather than a sharp whine and Randy’s guitarwork is more constricting than the wide-open sprawls and scratches he’s known for. A video stream of track is below, with the album tracklisting and details of the band’s upcoming tour dates.
