NHK'Koyxeи is making a second ‘DANCE CLASSICS’ album and it will probably be superb

Japanese producer and visual artist NHK’Koyxeи aka Kouhei Matsunag is set to release his second album on Berlin’s excellent PAN Records. ‘Dance Classics Vol. II’ follows (rather unsurprisingly) this year’s ‘Dance Classics Vol. I’ and a more recent split 12” release with SND (Mark Fell and Matt Steel), also on PAN.)

Late last week Matsunanga tweeted that he was listening to the album, which had just been mastered by Rashad Becker (a mastering legend from Basic Channel’s Dubplates & Mastering studio).

‘Dance Classics Vol. I’ and the forthcoming ‘Dance Classics Vol. II’ are a collection of the experimental Matsunag’s more dance-oriented output, although amongst the ‘Vol. I’s complex constructions and dancefloor friendly bass music there are still a number of excellently ethereal and skittering experimental tracks. The strength of ‘Vol I.’ was in fact its affective build-up of rhythmic complexity and richness, counterbalanced with these sparse, abstract sounds. It’s expected very soon.
