New pledge site allows fans to choose artist's live event promotion

Internet startup Detourjam has its eyes on the concert market.

Great news, a new internet business has launched!

Detourjam follows in the footsteps of online crowd-funding platforms like Kickstarter, by letting fans vote with their wallets on an artist’s tour schedule. The system works by the performers giving Detourjam their tour schedules and the site offering up potential dates to different cities in a race to 100 pledges; the city with the most pledges wins and details of the gig are announced.

The awkwardly named venture is taking its first steps but is looking promising. The first race for a gig by Emika featuring a DJ set by Micachu and Raisa K was won by London – beating off challenges from the likes of Bournemouth, Milton Keynes and York – and the current race for a Holy Other event supported by Lapalux and the Haxan Cloak is between Brighton, Bristol, London and Leeds together.
