Our artist to watch this year, slowthai, has let his music do the talking recently, and with the country seemingly at his feet and feeding into his powers, he has dropped two tracks out of the blue, straight from the grittiness that is his Northampton ends. 'The Bottom' begins with a passage speaking to the idea that each major city has their own hood, before slowthai lets loose with trademark introspection over a sombre instrumental.
Meanwhile, 'North Nights' is a bit more upbeat – a thumping drum sequence makes sure of this – but maintains similar themes, as the rapper continues to find his pocket and run with it, intensely and with purpose.
