Mykki Blanco - Haze.Boogie.Life (Prod. Sinden & Matrixxman)

Mykki Blanco enlists the help of both Sinden and Matrixxman on her new joint, resulting in a tune that's rhythmically guttural, and lyrically visceral.

Whilst it seems to be a major trend of the moment for hip hop’s new wave to work with innovative producers as a means to soundtrack their overwhelming boasts, beefs and assurances about taking over the game (for a good example check out Azealia Banks’ Succubi), Mykki Blanco seems to be having genuine fun at the prospect of inciting harsh reaction from the haters on her latest single.

With a beat that matches her audacious attitude, Haze.Boogie.Life establishes Blanco’s awareness of the previous successes and failures of past female rappers, and how she intends on achieving the sought-after jet-setter lifestyle and respected rap position for the long haul. With lines like “The Great White Hype’, yeah it’s Miss Blanco, got all these cats shook, from LA to Toronto”, it would seem that she’s just playing that same old, self-generating hype trick, although the brute force of the Sinden & Matrixxman production only serves to give these claims the sinister edge they deserve.
