MF DOOM and Madlib's 'Madvillainy' follow-up was "85% done"

The news was confirmed by Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf

According to Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf, the ‘Madvillainy’ sequel by Madlib and the late MF DOOM was “85 per cent done”.

Wolf confirmed the news on a podcast interview with Pete Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds: “DOOM was always telling me, ‘It’s 85% done, it’s 85% done.’ That was the magic number.”

He added that in 2009, the rapper sent him 11 songs, but wanted to hold off on any releases until a few more songs were finished. During the wait, though, verses would appear on other people’s albums or leak online, leading the label owner to get frustrated.

“I was just like, you know, ‘It’s gonna happen when it’s gonna happen.’ I don’t wanna be the guy to force creativity or anything.”

According to the interview, Wolf and his team have approval from the artist’s team and family to compile the material into one project.

After DOOM’s tragic passing, there was an outpouring of grief for the late MC on social media by fans and artists alike.
