Mercury Prize nominations
Mercury shortlist includes PJ Harvey, James Blake, Elbow, Adele, Ghostpoet and few surprises.
The Mercury Music Prize is a big-deal alternative music award given to the best British album of the year that British people care about but often say they don’t care about.
2011’s nominated albums are:
- Anna Calvi ‘Anna Calvi’
- Elbow ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’
- James Blake ‘James Blake’
- Katy B ‘On A Mission’
- Metronomy ‘English Riviera’
- PJ Harvey ‘Let England Shake’
- Gwilym Simcock ‘Good Days At Schloss Ellmau’
- Ghostpoet ‘Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam’
- Tinie Tempah ‘Disc-Overy’
- Everything Everything ‘Man Alive’
- King Cresote & Jon Hopkins ‘Diamond Mine’
- Adele ‘21’
It’s a fairly safe list. The winner will be announced in September, and will probably be PJ Harvey.
