Men charged with the murder of Pop Smoke could face the death penalty
Four people have been charged with the murder of Pop Smoke after the home invasion shooting that happened back in February.
A 19-year-old and an 18-year-old have been charged with robbery and murder while two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, face the same charges.
The two adults face life in jail without the chance of being released if convicted and could also be eligible for the death penalty.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said it was a “special circumstance allegation that the murder occurred during the commission of a robbery and a burglary, making them eligible for the death penalty.”
Prosecutors said the decision to pursue the route of capital punishment “would be made at a later date,” however, the two men are expected to spend to the rest of their life behind bars once the verdict comes through.
A 22-year-old male thought to be connected to the killing was also arrested last week on suspicion of attempted murder, however he has not been charged.
The investigation into the rapper’s murder is ongoing.
