Matthew Herbert - The End Of Silence, Part One

Herbert has a new jazz album coming out that's entirely made out of a 10 second recording of war.

Sound artist, dance maverick, PETA hate figure, house appreciator and all round top dog Matthew Herbert is releasing a new album, ‘The End Of Silence’. It’s built out of a single 10 second recording made during the battle of Ras Lanuf in Libya last year, in which a pro-Gadaffi plane can be heard flying overhead. The recording was repurposed across the album’s three tracks by Herbert and his band, who improvised using fragments of the sounds to turn it into something of a jazz quartet. You can stream the first part below.

Accidental will release ‘The End Of Silence’ on June 24th.
