March Dispatch \ Feeding Time mix
So what has happened in a month? Well, the incredibly hip oyster-poisoning has been replaced by a more drab flu-like illness, due to the insane hours I have been keeping. There we go, I got the ailments out the way in the first sentence, like a cranky-old, rickety-kneed, counter-clerk from your make-believe record emporium, moaning and fishing for sympathy before trying to peddle the latest sound truffles to you. Actually, it is all for free, so put up with my personable ramblings and dig the free music.
Keeping me busy have been a couple of massive projects. First, Feeding Time have tried our hand at curation, programming the music for the inaugural Dazed & Confused festival Dazed Live dazedlive.com, which is, of course, going to be fucking amazing, not least because Gang Gang Dance are healdining. We have also been gearing up for our first SXSW showcase with agency friends No Man Is on March 19th at the Flamingo Cantina. With not time to make any music of my own this month I dug a little deeper for nostalgia tunes and gilded morsels to crave my creative urges. Kicking off is a little track/skit from Greece’s Larry Gus, who must have emailed me his record two years ago or more, back when I was blogging on the regs, I am just discovering it now and its an amazing sample based album. Also in da’ mix Planningtorock and Sleep ∞ Over’s new smooth-jams that you have probably heard through other channels already but I defy you to be bored of, Carl Craig’s Paperclip People alias, and a beautiful liquid guitar ender from an unknown artist. This track was in a compilation of obscurities that Matt Ingram aka Woebot made for me to soundtrack a room in an art gallery filled with tents. Pretentious much? Yes!
