M.I.A. drops 'Broader Than A Border' video, featuring new song Swords

M.I.A. has released 'Matahdatah Scroll 01 ‘Broader Than A Border’', a film featuring a new song from her forthcoming fifth album 'Matahdatah'.

New song Swords and 2013 track Warriors both feature on 'Matahdatah Scroll 01 ‘Broader Than A Border’', a film directed by M.I.A. that moves from sequences shot in India and Africa.

“My new song Swords was filmed in a Temple in India and we recorded the clang of the metal to make the beat at the same time as shooting these incredible girls,” says M.I.A. in a press release, “There's ten more of these countries coming and I haven't chased where to go yet, so who knows where this project will take me.”

Leading up to the release of 'Matahdatah', due out on Interscope later this year, M.I.A. will be releasing a collection of new songs accompanied by videos directed and edited by M.I.A. in different countries, ultimately forming an album and film experience about borders.

The film is premiering exclusively on Apple Music.
