Luke Abbott – Object Is A Navigator

Luke Abbott, producer of intricate and inward electronica, has announced the release of a second EP on Gold Panda’s NOTOWN Records imprint this December.

The ‘Modern Driveway’ release in May further proved Abbott’s deft ear for crafting crystalline synths and driving beats with a consistently reflective mindset. This was encapsulated by the title track, whose heartfelt melody captured a swooning melancholia that arguably hasn’t been bettered by a UK producer in 2012.

Object Is A Navigator – the first taster of the new EP – finds the producer in a more confrontational mood, opting for a maximalist sonic aesthetic formed around a cacophony of overwhelming whirrs and bleeps. The track continuously teeters on the edge of implosion, only occasionally allowing a more definable rhythmic cohesion to burst through.

The announcement signals Gold Panda’s label – who recently put out Dam Mantle’s expansive debut LP ‘Brother’s Fowl’ – continue to grow in size and stature.
