Kwes - Rollerblades

Kwes has that indefinable something that endears, imbuing his music with an openness and warmth that is impossible to ignore. New song Rollerblades is a perfect case in point, a jingly, jangly patchwork of heart-pricked memories. Musically, it showcases his percussive prowess; that ability to tease cohesive emotion from a jumble of instruments that could easily come across as discordant in a lesser musician’s hands. Rollerblades follows ‘Meantime’, Kwes’ debut EP on Warp released back in April, and is the first taste of new material to come in the new year. Roll on a debut Kwes album in 2013, please.
