Jonny Greenwood collaborates with famous Polish composer

Radiohead guitarist and composer in his own right works with greatest living Polish composer, Krzysztof Penderecki.

As FACT report, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has completed an album with legendary Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.

Penderecki, most famous for his work on the terrifying Threnody To The Victims of Hiroshima and the soundtracks to ‘the Exorcist’ and ‘the Shining’, is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers working today. Radiohead, of course, are very interesting band well known for writing similarly unsettling and adventurous music, and Jonny has himself worked as a composer, most successfully on the ‘There Will Be Blood’ OST.

The news was announced on the Sacrum Profanum website.

“Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the greatest composers, and Radiohead’s guitarist Jonny Greenwood, who performed Sunday at the inaugural concert of this year’s edition of the Sacrum Profanum Festival, are recording an album! It will be prepared by the National Audiovisual Institute and released by the legendary American label Nonesuch Records. The record will contain compositions by Penderecki and Greenwood that resounded at the concert crowning Wrocław’s European Culture Congress. The album’s tracks were recorded yesterday and today in Alvernia Studios, a studio based near Krakow. The producer of the album is Filip Berkowicz, the Artistic Director of the Sacrum Profanum Festival.”
