Jessie Ware - Strangest Feeling [stream]
Jessie Ware’s debut single release, Strangest Feeling, forthcoming on PMR records – the label whose inaugural output unleashed the monstrous Battle For Middle You by Julio Bashmore at the turn of the year – is already producing expanding ripples of excitement across the vocal-led, downtempo landscape.
A strong association with SBTRKT and Sampha and collaborative work for Young Turks, 4AD and Numbers has clearly paved the way for her solo output. Ware’s sombre, haunting lyrics, “I’ve been having the strangest feeling, that you walked out on me one evening,” punctuated by sharp, percussive beats and a growler of a bassline, conjure a moody and enthralling atmosphere.
Strangest Feeling will hit the shops on 21st November 2011 and give way to an album produced by Dave Okumu (The Invisible), expected to coincide with a UK tour in the new year.
