Jessie Ware made her debut as a radio presenter yesterday

The South London singer sat in for Annie Mac on Radio 1 last night, and came across as quite the natural.

Jessie Ware – one of a few select artists to feature on Dummy’s lists of best albums, songs and videos of 2012 – took over the airwaves for the first time last night, filling in for Annie Mac on her Radio 1 Sunday show. Although pointing out early on “I’m definitely not a radio presenter, definitely not a producer and I’m not a DJ”, Jessie came across as quite the natural on the air. The two hour show featured music from Twigs, BenZel (the mysterious duo she recently worked with for a Brownstone cover, hinting that there’s another collaboration with them to come), and a chilled-out guest mix from T.Williams.

Jessie also spoke on her touring plans for 2013, which will see her head out to the USA and Australia, before returning for a UK tour featuring two nights at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London. In a manner that seemed to rather sweetly reflect on her breakout success in 2012, Jessie took a moment to consider the planned Shepherd’s Bush gigs: “I’ve been to see Another Level there… and now there’s me”. Head to the Radio 1 site to replay the show over the next six days.
