Jesse Hackett - The Dump Run

Properly good glam pop built on a cheap keyboard found in a recycling dump.

Jesse Hackett is an artist who Dummy holds enormous respect for. He first came to our attention through his work with Owiny Sigoma Band and Blludd Relations, but Hackett has also played as a member of Gorillaz, Damon Albarn's Africa Express, and the very good Elmore Judd.

His solo album, 'JUNK', is due out next month via Circle Star Records, a new subsidiary of Stones Throw that's being curated by label boss Peanut Butter Wolf. The album is titled as such because it's basically all made on a Yamaha PSR-110 that he found in a recycling dump.

Watching videos of the PSR-110 on YouTube and you'd figure The Dump Run would be a dinky, cheapy-sounding little song, but Hackett turns it into a properly good glam-pop racket.

Circle Star Records release 'JUNK' on July 17th 2015 (buy).
