Jacques Greene - On Your Side (feat. How To Dress Well)

Tom Krell comes in crystal-clear over a snappy beat from the Montrealian, ahead of their appearances at Field Day.

Last night Zane Lowe premiered Jacques Greene’s new one On Your Side, which will most likely grab your attention due to the presence of a certain How To Dress Well on vocal duties. On Your Side is an invigorating piece of pop-house – with echoes of Jamie xx-style steel pans in the breakdowns – and follows on logically from Jacques Greene’s stupidly catchy Painted Faces. Although Tom Krell’s collaboration with Shlohmo for Don’t Say No was still a joy, it kept Krell’s vocal within the mellowed, under-the-covers stylings usually favoured on his solo work. But here he sounds energised and crystal clear, with the oomph and passion to match any garage vocalist of old.

On Your Side will feature as the lead-off on a forthcoming EP for LuckyMe, which is also set to feature lush house number Quicksand. Both Krell and Greene will be at London’s Field Day on Saturday, and according to LuckyMe’s site, they may well be joining forces on the day.

LuckyMe will release the ‘On Your Side’ EP on the 3rd June 2013.
