J Fernandez - No Luck/Olympic Village

J Fernandez made most of ‘No Luck/Olympic Village’ on his own in his apartment in Chicago and it shows; its taciturn takes on personal and even political problems are often cloaked in echo. The guitar lines, synths and organs that make up most of the sound can be warm and comforting or rich and heady, as the move from Corridors to Fading Out succinctly demonstrates, and the double EP has a real texture to it despite being the work of a single performer. ‘No Luck/Olympic Village’ is a pre-cursor to a studio-recorded, full band-backed LP expected sometime next year.
