Instagram launches @music account

The photo-based social network launches an account dedicated to exploring music, music makers, and the music community in a visual way

Instagram has launched an @music account dedicated to exploring music, music makers, and the music community in a visual way.

It's the first time the photo-based social network has launched an account dedicated to a single subject (so you can probably expect @food, @movies etc. in the future). It'll feature "all facets of the musical experience", according to a press release, including famous stars, new voices, session players, passionate fans, instruments, lyrics, whatever.

There will be six posts per week, coming with some truly heinous hashtags: #LocallySourced (unsigned acts), #DoubleTrack (focus on artists' interests outside of music), and #15SecondLessons (videos on how to perform everything from riffs to drumbeats) are just some of the examples given.

You can follow the account @music or check out the main Instagram blog to keep up to date. Their first feature focuses on Questlove.
