Here's a chance to make a track with Theo Parrish

Well, sort of: you can watch and make polite suggestions - and it's for a good cause.

In an effort to raise money and support for the Steve Reid Foundation – a charity started by Gilles Peterson to help struggling musicians and support emerging talent – Theo Parrish is taking part in an open workshop titled the ‘Experience of Creation’. Guests will be able to watch the proper dance music legend make a track from start to finish at a special event on 7th May, and anyone can offer suggestions for the sample palette by tweeting @SteveReidFNDN with the hashtag #SRF until the 24th of April.

The workshop will be hosted by Tony Nwachukwu (of the ‘CDR’ show on NTS and band Attica Blues), who describes the overall goal of the project:

“This event brings opportunity to further my passion for giving insights into the production process but this time, in a uniquely more intimate setting and with the ultimate goal of raising money for the Steve Reid Foundation – it’s an important cause and all musicians should be aware of it. Whether I’m wearing my Producer hat, knowledge facilitator or educator, I constantly explore the notion of seeing the unseen. This event will be a beautiful amalgamation of all those possibilities.”

The Steve Reid Foundation’s ‘Experience of Creation’ workshop will be held at Look Mum No Hands, 49 Old St, London EC1V 9HX. Only 50 tickets are available at a cost of £20 from here.
