Hejira - Floating Test (Hejira x Floating Points)

The Eglo brainiac continues to move into big-room orchestral terrain with this match-up of the Matthew Herbert-approved band.

Eglo co-boss and general smart dude Floating Points is always worth keeping an eye on, and can often surprise: take the recent orchestral and organ manouevres of 11-minute opus Wires, for example.

While at the time it seemed these forays may have just been a one-off, this new match-up with Hejira (who Matthew Herbert first drew our eyes to) continues in a similar vein. The source material, a plaintive Herbert-produced folk chant – is taken stratospheric: drum rolls roll, bass licks lick and a maelstrom of strings build – before spacious xylophones saunter off into space. There's something defiantly big about where Floating Points has been headed recently, and it'll be interesting to see how these moves pan out.

Accidental will release Hejira's debut album 'Prayer Before Birth' on the 21st October 2013.
