Headie One and Fred again.. announce mixtape with FKA twigs, Sampha and Octavian

'Gang' is coming this Friday

Headie One and UK singer-producer Fred again.. have announced joint mixtape ‘Gang’, out this Friday April 3.

The record, releasing via Relentless Records, is the culmination of months of work between the two artists who first struck up a friendship last year and continues the collaborative effort which saw the pair release their first track together back in January, ‘Charades’.

It follows Headie One’s ‘Music X Road’ album, which was one of our 50 favourites of 2019.

Tapping up some of Britain’s most influential artists, ‘Gang’ will feature the likes of FKA twigs, Jamie xx, Sampha, Octavian, and Burwyn, as well as sampling slowthai’s voice on ‘Tyron’.

“’Gang’ comes from a different perspective from my previous projects. It’s much more raw with emotion, not just from my own narrative like ‘Music X Road’ but this time, from my peers,” said Headie.

“The title represents loyalty and friendship, these things are important to me and Fred and I quickly developed this whilst recording the project over the past few months. We feel we really create something special when we’re together.”

Punctuated by a production style unlike anything Headie has worked with in the past, the mixtape is set to see the pair experiment in new territory as they look to add a new dimension to the UK rap landscape.
