Gerard Smith, TV On The Radio bassist, passes away

Gerard Smith, the terrific bassist in famous band TV On The Radio, has died aged 36.

Terrible news: Gerard Smith, who joined the space rock band TV On The Radio in 2005 and played on the albums ‘Return To Cookie Mountain’, ‘Dear Science’ and ‘Nine Types of Light’ has died after a battle with lung cancer. He was just 36.

TV On The Radio carried this message on their website: “We are very sad to announce the death of our beloved friend and bandmate, Gerard Smith, following a courageous fight against lung cancer. Gerard passed away the morning of April 20th, 2011. We will miss him terribly.”
