Flume - Flume [album stream]

The instantly likeable Sydney producer shares his shimmering debut in full on Soundcloud.

Flume, real name Harley Streten, has just uploaded his debut LP in full onto soundcloud, due for UK release in the new year.

The album is a wide-eyed rush of soaring vocals, airy hip hop beats and a rich palette of synth experimentation; at times it seems to teeter on the edges of all sounding just that bit too polished and safe, but Flume proves his production prowess by roughing things up at just at the right moment by throwing in a particularly muddled drop, or further pitch-bending a vocal sample beyond all tangible recognition. The guest vocalists – often a stumbling block that can go a long way to completely ruining a producer’s debut – are well chosen, too. Bring You Down features George Maple and is uplifting pop in vibrant technicolour, and Chet Faker delivers a rich, yearning performance for the reflective Left Alone.

Transgressive Records will release ‘Flume’ on the 18th February
