Fatima Al Qadiri - Szechuan

Fatima Al Qadiri upcoming album 'Asiatisch' is named after the German word for "Asia", with a concept that "revolves around the fantasies of east Asia as refracted through pulpy Western pop culture, in particular, Hollywood, literary fiction, music, cartoons and advertising."

Fitting with the theme, Szechuan, the first track taken from the album and put on the internet, is an interpretation of sino-grime, the term Hyperdub boss Kode9 gave to early grime characterised by the heavy use of synthesized versions of Chinese instruments and melodies.

Hyperdub release 'Asiatisch' on May 5th 2014.
