Fall under the spell of Canadian producer Born Gold

Listen to the bubbling, brooding experimental pop of the 24-carat artist.

There’s an untamed aspect to the music of Born Gold, an almost-primal immediacy that thrills. It’s the solo project of Canadian experimental pop producer Cecil Frena who used to make music as Gobble Gobble. Part of Canada’s new wave of avant-pop musicians, Frena is pals with Purity Ring (who we interviewed here ) and Kuhrye-oo (who made us a mighty fine mix here). ‘Little Sleepwalker’ is the name of his new album coming out next week on Portland label Audraglint, and you can hear two songs from it below.
I: Ferocious Body is a moody, groovy, vocoder-led number that glints and glimmers somewhere in the space between pop and the dancefloor, while II: Against Silence takes those themes to footwork-influenced territory. Listen and get enchanted below.

Audraglint will release Born Gold’s ‘Little Sleepwalker’ on 23rd October 2012
