Empress Of announces debut album ‘Me’

20.07.15

Empress Of will release her debut album through Terrible Records in September.

Empress Of (real name Lorely Rodriquez) produced, recorded, and engineered the album entirely herself in 2014 – hence its title, 'Me'.

The 10 tracks that make up 'Me' play out as diary entries from the album's writing sessions, which took place over a five-week period of isolation in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. Streaming now is a new song called Kitty Kat, which details her experience being catcalled around Valle de Bravo.

In support of the album, Rodriquez will be playing a three-night residency at London venue Power Lunches next week, co-presented by Dummy, NTS Radio, and Young Turks/Terrible Records. The short set of shows was inspired by a similar run of gigs in NYC, where her five-night residency at Elvis Guesthouse saw her joined by Ezra Koenig, Dev Hynes, and Le1f. Tickets for the residency can be bought here.

Empress Of will also be touring the UK and Europe with Purity Ring.
