Ducktails - Letter Of Intent

Twinkling synths and blissful beats abound on collaborative first single on the upcoming fourth album from Matthew Mondanile's side project.

Ducktails, Real Estate guitarist Matthew Mondanile’s increasingly prolific side-project, will release fourth LP ‘The Flower Lane’ in January. The album is set to see Ducktails evolve from a mostly solo venture into a more collaborative affair, with Matthew calling on a host of guest musicians and vocalists, including Ian Drennan of Big Troubles and Madeline Follin of Cults.

The fluttering, flowing pop of Letter Of Intent also hints that ‘The Flower Lane’ will be a distillation of the lo-fi soundscapes of previous Ducktails efforts into something a little more sharply in focus. Mondanile pulls in other impressive guests, but keeps the vibe enticingly relaxed. Vocalist Jessa Farkas gives a purer performance than normally reserved for the spaced-out sonics of her Brooklyn group Future Shuttle, and Daniel Lopatin takes a day off from abstracting the lines between modern classical and experimental electronica as Oneohtrix Point Never, to provide some dazzling synth work.

Domino Records will release ‘Letter Of Intent’ on the 28th January
