Diplo releases 'Mad Legit' DJ set through new platform 'Legitmix'

New technology allows DJs to make their sets available to buy without having to go through a sample clearance process. Quelle surprise – Diplo is a fan of this idea.

Diplo proved himself to be a fan of new digital music technologies when he got involved in turntable.fm recently, and now he’s at it again with new music platform Legitmix .

Legitmix allows artists who use the work of other musicians to sell their music legally, without going through the clearance process that they would usually incur. Simple, right? Not really. But helpfully, there’s a video that breaks it down:

Legitmix Empowers Artists from Legitmix on Vimeo.

Diplo’s involvement has come in the form of a 40 minute DJ set, entitled Mad Legit, which he is releasing through Legitmix for $1. The mix features nine exclusive remixes, including Rusko’s rework of 2Pac’s California Love and a Mad Decent dubstep remix of Look at Me Now by Chris Brown.

Once the mix is purchased, the customer has to also purchase all the source music, which makes the whole process Mad Legit, if a little Mad Costly. The availability of sets and remixes which would otherwise be hidden away for legal reasons, though, makes the whole thing Mad Worthwhile. Is this Mad Tedious yet?
