'Diplo & Friends': a brand new weekly show on BBC Radio 1

American DJ and producer Wesley Pentz, bettern known to the music world as Diplo, has been given a new weekly BBC Radio show, as FACT has pointed us towards.

Blackberry salesman, producer and bass music magpie Diplo will broadcast every Saturday night on Radio 1 & 1Xtra from 1 to 3 am starting this week. The show, entitled ‘Diplo and Friends’, will see the DJ bringing exclusive mixes from a selection of ‘big name pals and cutting edge new artists’ and from Diplo himself.

The appointment of Diplo is part of an interesting, if long-overdue, shift by Auntie to reflect the bassier, newer end of the British-and-beyond club scene, with Benga and Skream, Julio Bashmore and Mosca all now on the Nation’s Favourite, with Judge Jules Fabio Grooverider and Kissy Sell Out on their way out.
