Design a 7" sleeve for Jessie Ware, Nas or Public Enemy

Submissions are now open for the second Secret 7", a project that asks you to design new sleeve art for seven prominent artists.

After the success of 2012’s inaugural Secret 7”, the project returns for its second year on 20th April, to coincide with World Record Store Day. The initiative, a collaboration between Universal Music and Talenthouse, is this year raising money for Art Against Knives, a charity that funds creative initiatives in communities where young people are at risk of being embroiled in gang violence.

The project asks artists and designers to produce new sleeve art for a 7” vinyl from one of seven artists: Elton John, Jessie Ware, Nas, Laura Marling, Nick Drake, Haim or Public Enemy. The final sleeve designs will be chosen from among thousands of submissions by public vote, before being pressed up and displayed at creative agency Mother’s London gallery space.

The exhibition launches on 13th April, and all the records will be available to buy on Record Store Day, although you won’t know what you’ve actually picked up until you get it in your hands. Among last year’s winners was an entirely knitted sleeve, so don’t limit your creativity.
