Death Grips – The Money Store (full album stream)

The transition of west coast rap / digital hardcore band Death Grips from “overly visceral underground rap band” to “major label prospect” with no identifiable loss of bonkers-ness has been extraordinary. Their new album, their first for major label Epic, is called ‘The Money Store’ is streaming below a week ahead of release. It’s as confrontational an album as you’ll hear this year, full of clattering drums and raps that are closer to chants than hooks, but it’s also a surprisingly melodic listen, with most of their shocks coming from their dense, collision aesthetic rather than obvious discordance.
