Darkstar's album 'North' – details

Magisterial electronic pop duo (now trio) behind the some of the greatest songs of recent times bring out their debut on October 18th through Hyperdub to great excitement.

One of our favourite band’s debut album will be released through Hyperdub on October the 18th. Aidy’s Girl Is A Computer (our editor’s favourite song of 2009, for what it’s worth), their last release, features on the album, alongside Gold, a Human League cover, which will be their next single. James Young and Aiden Whalley formed Darkstar in 2007, and have released (among others) two singles on their own 2010 label, then two on Hyperdub. For ‘North’, they’ve been joined by vocalist James Buttery. The album was described by Kode9 of Hyperdub as “Elegant, downbeat, breezy, sometimes melancholy and bleak, sometimes optimistic, ‘North’ will surprise many, a classic record for short days and long nights.”
