d'Eon - #105

d’Eon has a gift for creating fragrant melodies, so densely yet delicately textured that they tease the senses. Like new track #105, which ripples suggestively like an infinity pool. The Montreal based singer/producer has uploaded over a dozen such tracks to his YouTube channel since mid-November, all randomly numbered, all jams, all gold. It’s all just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his potential though – this is the guy with the honey voice, often compared to Phil Collins, and the knack for pre-dating trends. Jungle’s coming back? Yeah, d’Eon was all over that on ‘Darkbloom’, his split LP on Hippos In Tanks with friend and collaborator Grimes last summer. While often painted as being in Grimes’s shadow, who’s just signed to 4AD as we reported earlier, it’s only a matter of time before d’Eon’s era dawns.
