D'Angelo - Black Hole Sun [demo]

Following news of the ‘Brown Sugar’ star’s return in December, a demo has surfaced on which D’Angelo pays tribute to fellow 90s stars Soundgarden with a sultry cover of Black Hole Sun. Even at demo stage it sounds achingly luxurious, smacking of silk dressing gowns, cashmere PJs and velvet covered chaise longues. Listen to D’Angelo’s cover and the original below.

D’Angelo’s new album – title TBC unless the rumours that it’s the long touted ‘James Rivers’ record are founded – will be released by RCA Records sometime this year. It’s likely to feature The Roots’ Questlove and QTip, as both have dropped hints about working with him.
