Chris Brown has been arrested on rape charges in Paris, the Associated Press has confirmed.
The US singer has been detained in the French capital along with two other people after a woman filed a complaint, two police officials say.
One said that the complaint was filed with police in the 17th arrondissement of northwest Paris, and said that one of the other detainees was Brown’s bodyguard.
The singer has found himself in repeated legal trouble after admitting to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
Update (14:40, 22/01/19): The complainant is a 24-year-old woman who alleges that Brown assaulted her in a hotel suite in the city earlier this month, the BBC is reporting.
She reportedly told police that the pair met at Le Crystal nightclub close to the Champs-Elysées.
It is being reported that she followed Brown to his hotel room at the Mandarin Oriental where she alleges the singer, his bodyguard and a third man took turns raping her.
Update (23/01.19): Brown and two associates were released from custody yesterday without charge.
The singer took to Instagram, posting in all caps: “I wanna make it perfectly clear…. This is false and a whole lot of cap! For my daughter and my family, this is so disrespectful and is against my character and morals.”
