Bonobo announces new album 'Rosewood' and world tour

"I love crowds and movement and people connecting with each other."

Bonobo, real name Simon Green, just dropped a small but fiery taster of what’s to come from his forthcoming album ‘Fragments’, and announced a world tour. The new track ‘Rosewood’ was initially released as 36 seconds long teaser, and is said to reflect the rest of the album, which will consist of 12 sonic affirmations that capture a world in flux and glow with hope.

The album came as Bonobo sought refuge in the Californian desert, away from lockdown and wildfires. It will include exploration of modular synthesis, recordings he had made of harpist Lara Somogyi, his work with arranger and string player Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and his own playing of the Fender Rhodes. He adds, UK bass music and rave will course through its veins.

On the album, Bonobo says; “It’s about the dancefloor in many ways, about how I remembered all over again how much I loved crowds and movement and people connecting with each other.”

It will feature Jamila Woods, Joji, Kadhja Bonet, Jordan Rakei, O’Flynn and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and will be Bonobo’s most ambitious project yet. Bonobo has 3 GRAMMY nominations already and the new track comes with a visualiser from Neil Krug who did the artwork for 2017’s ‘Migration’ album.

‘Fragments’ will be released 14th January. Watch the visualiser for ‘Rosewood’ below.
