Following the release of Froth/Mercy earlier in the year, Boddika and Joy Orbison are readying the second record on their Sunklowun imprint. Boddika, one half of Instra:mental, and the protean Orbison have a great studio chemistry and are said to be working together a lot since the tear away success of their first single Swims. The new tracks continue with their shared love for analogue equipment and the deeper ends of house and techno and it’s a bit of shock to remember that this only their third release together. The heavy bump and plonk of Dun Dun tentatively hovers on the edges of the dancefloor before Prone on the B-side opens everything out into a pool of soft, rippling synths. This is composed, weighty dance music and it sounds great. The 12” vinyl of Dun Dun/Prone will be released by Sunklowun Records this week in limited one-off pressings.
