Björk's new video for Stonemilker to be available on Oculus Rift

The Icelandic star's next video will be released for the virtual reality technology, with Björk describing VR as "almost more intimate than real life."

Last week a little news story circulated around about Björk's opinions on Spotify. In a recent interview with Fast Company, the Icelandic musician talked about keeping new album 'Vulnicura' off of the streaming platform: "It’s not about the money; it’s about respect, you know? Respect for the craft and the amount of work you put into it."

A far more interesting tidbit was also buried in this interview: namely that her music video for Stonemilker is going to be released for virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, with Björk describing VR as "almost more intimate than real life."

Having released her previous album, 'Biophilia', as an app in 2013, Björk is not sheepish about using new technologies. "It can’t just be working with the gadget for the sake of the gadget," Björk said when asked about the new video, "But also it’s about budgets. You can do apps cheaply. Apps was kind of punk, actually. It was like starting a punk band again. Filming for Oculus Rift is not."

The video will be directed by Andrew Thomas Huang.
