Barack Obama sells records

Statistics show that sales of Bruce Springsteen's 'We Take Care Of Our Own' jumped by over 400% after it played at the end of one of Obama's speeches, a trend echoed by Al Green's Let's Stay Together and other POTUS-approved tracks.

Barack Obama has proved before that he has the Midas touch when it comes to record sales, by provoking a 409% increase in downloads of Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ after he sang it earlier this year.

This week, he has continued this effect by causing mass fervour over Bruce Springsteen’s recent single ‘We Take Care Of Our Own’. After the track was played at the closing of Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention on the 6th September, sales figures showed a 409% increase in purchases of the track.

Sales of Wrecking Ball, the 2012 Boss album that ‘We Take Care…’ came from, also jumped following the presidential endorsement, climbing from no. 199 to no. 112 in the Billboard chart.

If you’re someone who prefers Bruce Springsteen post-Democratic endorsement, or just a general fan of presidentially-endorsed music, you might also enjoy Obama’s official Spotify playlist, which was released back in February.
