August Alsina - The Product 2

The New Orleans singer with a past makes his brightest statement about his future.

August Alsina, the Def Jam-signed singer whose talent could point to something just good, very good or even great, released his second mixtape ‘The Product 2’ earlier this month. With a name that alludes to both his drug dealing past and his current status as a potential R&B star, it’s a far more cohesive tape than the showreel first installment and is lead by his promising hit I Luv This Shit with Trinidad James. His raw subject matter is illustrated in a Suit & Tie interpolation called Shoot or Die, but Alsina also composes two part Confessions interlude inspired by and featuring his mentor The-Dream and solid stand-alones like Downtown and FBGP (Fuck B*tches Get Paid) – a cynical but pained track produced by his main collaborators Knucklehead and Cassius Jay.
