AJ Tracey, Erika de Casier, Kai Whiston and more added to Dummy’s NEXT HYPE playlist

Plus new bangers from Ashnikko, Wiley, Earl Sweatshirt...

It’s been a week! Over the last five days we’ve premiered great new music from Björk-adored producer Bloom, instrumental grime upstart Polonis and ’90s R&B-indebted S4U, while Lord Pusswhip and Alfred Drexler aka PSYCHOPLASMICS gave us their top ten rap tracks currently emanating from the country’s burgeoning rap scene, and Miink listed the inspirations behind his standout new mixtape, ‘Small Clan’. Production mastermind and man of the minute SG Lewis knocked us up this masterful, groove-laden mix that’ll kick any Friday pre-drinks instantly into gear, while techno Renaissance woman Anja Schneider put together this incredible, ‘welcome to the new week’-themed mix for us.

We also met nomadic R&B sensation Col3trane, to talk jazz, transatlanticism and Cherry Bs, went to an eventful Lil Pump show that ended with him playing his tracks on a bluetooth speaker on top of his tour bus, plus saw WSTRN bring out all of the UK rap scene at their headline show, and trekked to a West London skatepark to watch AJ Tracey announce his debut album and perform the new ‘Doing It’ to 200 of his most loyal fans.

While last night we threw an ‘Innovators’ showcase in collaboration with Mixcloud at DMs Boot Room in Camden. There we welcomed two of our favourite new acts of the moment – Miink and Greentea Peng – to the stage, with a DJ set from Daniel Ness, and there’ll be videos and photos to come shortly…

Sifting through the best of this Friday’s new music drops, we’ve just added slowthai’s punk-fuelled ‘Doorman’, dark-edged work featuring Skepta from Daisy Maybe, Ashnikko, Wiley’s Dizzee-baiting freestyle and more to our NEXT HYPE playlist – listen now:
